Feit Consulting is committed to uncovering challenges and issues facing legal information professionals and developing solutions to these issues. To assist in the development of The Sole Provider Playbook, Feit Consulting conducted two surveys.
The Sole Provider Concerns Survey collected input from firms who currently have both Lexis or Westlaw, what factors are concerning and to what degree.
The Sole Provider Experience Survey collected input from firms who currently retain only Lexis or only Westlaw, or had been a sole provider in the last three years. This survey provided a format for firms to share their experience, positive outcomes and problematic issues. The survey inquired about the motivations for the firm to move to the sole provider option, what hurdles firms faced, how the transition affected the firm, the amount of time allocated to the transition and whether it was an adequate amount of time.
Are firms who have chosen to retain only Westlaw or only Lexis satisfied with their decision? How do firms handle lost content?
Firms were invited to participate via email, and the surveys were open from September through December 2016. Collectively, 116 firms participated in the two surveys. Feit Consulting took steps to ensure accuracy through random verification checks and auditing surveys. Any discrepancy was reviewed, corrected or excluded.
The survey results provided here are informative in understanding which factors and to what extent affect the decision to go sole provider. These results provide great insight in learning about the challenges and positive outcomes of going sole provider.
Purchase of the Sole Provider Survey Results can be applied to a later purchase of The Sole Provider Playbook, a 131 page resource for assessing, deciding and transitioning to a sole provider.
